Dental Implants in Augsburg: 3D Implantology

3D scans are of great importance in for dental implant treatments in Augsburg, as they enable us to create precise and detailed representations of the anatomical structures in the oral cavity. This is important because before implantation, the condition of the jawbone and the position of the surrounding teeth must be accurately determined.

Backward Planning

In our practice we use the backward planning method. This means that when we plan dental implants, we always start with the end result and plan backwards from there.

Examination

First, we conduct a detailed initial consultation with you, in order to then carry out a thorough examination. 3D X-rays and 3D scans are generated to accurately determine the condition of your jawbone and surrounding teeth.

End Result Planning

We will discuss the desired end result with you in terms of aesthetics and function of the new dental replacements. Initially, the focus is only on the dental replacements and only then do we plan the steps of how the desired result can be achieved with implants.

Backward Planning

Based on the desired end result, we now plan backwards and determine how many implants are needed, what size and shape they should be and where they need to be placed in the jaw based on the 3D data to achieve the exact result.

Implantation

If necessary, the jawbone is prepared with a bone augmentation treatment to ensure sufficient stability for the implants. Only when we are sure that the basics are correct, we will start with the insertion of the implants under local anesthesia. After the implantation, the implant needs a few weeks to months to heal into the bone. With check-ups and after-care tips, we ensure optimal stabilization and integration in the jawbone.

Dental Replacement and Aftercare

When manufacturing your dental replacements, we use the existing 3D images to individually manufacture your replacements using our CEREC system. After we are sure that your implant has healed completely and can be loaded, we insert your dental replacements according to our end result planning. With a further check-up and aftercare instructions, we ensure that the functionality and aesthetics of your dental replacements are secured in the long term.

FAQ

  • We use 3D scans and 3D X-rays for our treatment. This allows us to make an accurate diagnosis and plan individual treatment tailored to your specific needs. 3D images provide a high-precision representation of the jawbone, which can avoid potential surprises later.

We also use the backward planning method, in which the desired result is first defined and then the necessary steps are planned backwards.

This means that we discuss the desired end result with you and then plan the treatment steps that are necessary to achieve this goal.

  • The duration of an implantation depends on various factors, such as the number of teeth to be implanted and individual circumstances.

An implantation usually takes about 30 minutes. However, a more precise assessment of the duration can only be made after our initial examination.

  • A dental implant treatment together with a bone augmentation can cost up to several thousand euros.

However, implants are a very good investment in the long term as they provide a permanent solution to missing teeth.

Compared to other fixed replacement options like bridges or partial dentures, implants tend to last longer and can last for decades with proper care and regular follow-up care.

One way to protect yourself against the high costs of implant treatment is to take out private supplementary dental insurance.

This can help you with the costs of this treatment if necessary and protect you from financial burdens.

  • In short, there are five main benefits of implant treatment:

    • Natural appearance and function: Implants are placed in the jawbone, creating a stable base for dental replacements such as crowns, bridges or dentures. This allows implants to provide natural aesthetics and function that closely resemble natural teeth.

    • Jawbone Preservation: Implants can help preserve the jawbone because they are implanted in the bone and place stress on the bone, much like natural teeth. This can help slow the bone loss that occurs with missing teeth and unused jawbone.

    • Comfort: Implants can offer a higher level of comfort than other types of dental replacements because they are firmly anchored in the jaw and do not slip or wobble like removable dentures.

    • Long-Term Durability: Implants can be a long-term solution to missing teeth and can last for decades with proper care and maintenance.

    • Better ability to speak and eat: Implants can help improve the ability to speak and eat, which can be affected by the loss of teeth.
